Vision Care at 505, Union Place, Colombo 02 is a renovation of the iconic 505 building. Originally built in the late ’70s the 505 building has undergone many changes over the years. In 2017 after being acquired by Vision Care Opticians, the building was renovated into a mixed development, housing an eyewear showroom, Restaurant, Children’s eye clinic, Academy, Rentable space, miniature auditorium and Executive office wing.

The design intent was to preserve the building without making drastic changes to the overall architecture of the building, whilst creating spaces to accommodate the client’s brief.

The building’s exterior needed an update in design, this was done through a barrage of colour being used on the facade of the building. The bay windows on the building’s facade were treated as columns and rows, with each column being a primary colour and each row being a shade of the primary colour. This creates a cascade of colour on the building's facade at all times of the day.
