Project Description

Set in Battaramulla, this 3-storey Research and Development expansion of a renowned tea-tasting and trading facility was designed as a high-performance extension to its neighboring headquarters. It unfolds along a clear longitudinal axis, creating a dialogue between modern science and the heritage of tea, where subtle material shifts reference tea culture and ground the space in its purpose. A refined industrial palette shapes the workspace and testing areas, combining timber plank flooring, exposed concrete, white-painted brick, and steel, softened by glass and daylight from skylights. Across all levels, horizontal and vertical lines are composed in quiet harmony, anchored by the staircase and extended through structural grids, axes, railings, and detailing to establish a consistent rhythm throughout.
